The Girls Skater Dress is surprisingly easy to make, especially with the help of our step-by-step photo tutorial!

This dress pattern is for sizes 6-9 months up to 7-8 years and suitable for improvers, if you are looking for a complete-beginners project, why not have a go at making our Leggy Pants first?

Baboosh clothes are designed to grow along, don't be tempted to make the next size up as it will probably be too big! If you're unsure please refer to the sizing table.

Shoulder to hem length is as follows:

6-9 months: 45.5cm // 9-12m: 47.5cm // 12-18m: 51cm // 18-24m: 53cm // 2-3y: 56cm // 3-4y: 59.5cm // 4-5y: 63.5cm // 5-6y: 66cm // 6-7y: 69cm // 7-8y: 72cm // 8-9y: 77cm // 9-10y: 82cm // 10-11y: 85.5cm

Ideally you would be using an overlocker/serger, however you can make this dress using a standard sewing machine. For top tips sewing jersey fabrics, please take a look at this blog post!

Fabric requirements, jerseys/sweatshirt knit fabrics only (min. fabric width 150 cm):
6-9, 9-12 Months: 0.65m
12-18, 18-24 Months: 0.75m
2-3 & 3-4 Years: 0.85m
4-5 & 5-6 Years: 1.0m
6-7 & 7-8 Years: 1.1m
8-9 & 9-10 Years: 1.2m
10-11 Years: 1.6m (1.3 m with min fabric width of 160 cm)

Strip for trims:
-Sleeveless/Short Sleeves:, 15 cm length, 65 cm width.
–Long Sleeves: 30 cm length, 90 cm width
Rib knit jersey gives the best result. Alternatively you could also cut the trims out of the same fabric as the dress, or a different jersey fabric, as long as it has good stretch & recovery!

-Double sided fusible hem tape: (6-9m: 1.3m // 9-12m: 1.4m // 12-18m: 1.5m // 18-24m & 2-3y: 1.6m // 3-4y: 1.7m // 4-5y: 1.8m // 5-6y: 1.9m // 6-7y & 7-8y: 2.0m // 8-9 & 9-10: 2.2m // 10-11: 2.3m). I recommend using at least 2cm width for the baby sizes, and 2.5-3 cm for the bigger sizes.
-Jersey needle
-Twin needle (optional)
